If you want to see a traditional German city, Munich is the place to go. Its reputation makes people think it is a very big city, but really, the downtown area is like being at a traditional town here! It is also known as the beer mecca but it is also home to 11 universities, 300 churches and many important museums. One of the largest parks in Europe is in Munich.
The rhythm of daily life is calm, people are very nice; they assist you in any way you need and they always look forward to meet someone from abroad. Every step you take is full of history.
The city was actually destroyed by the many wars and it is incredible to see how everything was restored. The main church was completely rebuilt and now has the advantages of technology; heating system! The rest of the building was built exactly how it was before and carries the pride of the city. All the buildings within downtown are not very tall just for the fact that none of the new buildings can be taller as the church; from tradition. On the other hand, other taller buildings have been built around the center area.
Today Munich is home to Germany's high-tech industries and the largest publishing industry in Germany and all of Europe. The main companies BMW and Siemens have their headquarters here. Munich will also serve as one of the hosts of the 2006 World Cup Games.
