Chinese is the most widely-spoken language in the world. There are many programs in a wide variety of locations where you can go to study this fascinating language. Which location is right for you? In this article, we will discuss the pros and cons of studying in Beijing and Hangzhou, China. Stay tuned for additional locations later on this week.
Beijing, China's capital, is a huge city filled with ancient treasures. While studying here, students can take advantage of the incredible history by touring the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and innumerable temples, museums, parks, and lakes.
AmeriSpan has two Chinese schools in Beijing, First Choice and Budget-Friendly. Our First Choice school is located in the Chaoyang district, walkable to the subway. There are many school organized activities, lots of homestay interaction, and lots of homestay interaction. We like that students live in a private room with laundry service, with a choice of homestay or apartment. There is also a diverse mix of students and academic credit is available. What don't we like? Usually, students have a 20-40 minute commute to school. Additional programs offered at this school include Chinese for Specific Purposes, Chinese and Kung Fu, Chinese and Painting, and Chinese and Calligraphy.
Our other option in Beijing is our Budget-Friendly school. Classes are held in modern, air-conditioned buildings, with easy access to public transportation. Things that we like about this school are that students receive their own room, and there is only one student per family. The school does organize some activites, but not as many as our First Choice school. Chinese students also study English at this school, which can lead to some good interaction. Like our First Choice school, there are a diverse mix of students here. Again, we don't like the commute, which can be 20-40 minutes in the great city of Beijing.
Another location to learn Mandarin Chinese is AmeriSpan's school in Hangzhou, China. Our school is located near the famed and beautiful West Lake. A more casual and relaxed location than Beijing, all the classrooms in Hangzhou have a mountain view. We like that students get a private room with laundry service, there is only one student per homestay family, and also, the option between homestay and apartment. We don't like the fact that there are many Chinese tourists in Hangzhou.
Whichever location you choose to study Chinese, you can be sure that it will be a richly rewarding experience. Don't forget to check back later on this week for additional locations that might be of interest of you! Click for infomation on all of AmeriSpan's Chinese programs.
